I’ve always been a big fan of the aesthetics of emmy design, a Swedish vintage reproduction brand, but never before had the chance to try on their beautiful pieces. Needless to say, I was over the moon they contacted me to review the Miss Fancy Pants slacks and sassy suspenders from their AW15 collection!

Emmy’s size range stretches from UK size 6 to 24, which I really appreciate. I decided to go with the Miss Fancy Pants slacks in brown pinstripe (in Scandinavian size 48). Now, practically all of the trousers I own are custom-made and custom-sized so I was initially a tad bit worried about the fit of slacks that aren’t literally made for my body. I’m happy to report back that my initial concern turned out to be completely unfounded. After having the pants shortened, they’re a great fit and super comfy!

The slacks paired with emmy’s brown striped suspenders have practically become my uniform for this winter. I love the extra high waist of the trousers and the fact that they have pockets. The pinstriped brown twill resemblances a fine wool weave, which I think will take me through the Scandinavian spring and early summer as well. Over all, the slacks and the suspenders make a versatile outfit with sass a plenty!

The Miss Fancy Pants are available in brown salt & pepper, navy pinstripe, brown pinstripe and black pinstripe. The Sassy Suspenders are available in black & white, navy and brown striped. You can get yours via emmy design. Oh and I’m wearing tassel earrings from my other Swedish fave, Suzywan Deluxe. Scandinavia represent!

Why hello!

Long time, no see! It’s been a very busy year for me between working, writing and dying my hair various shades of pastel so I’ve had little time left for blogging. However, I’ve really missed it so I’ve decided to liven things up around here again, starting with a good ol’ outfit post.

I’m a long time fan of Italian dressmaker Debora of The Black Pinafore – apparently I was her first ever Etsy customer back in 2010! Debora does good quality vintage reproduction pieces in custom sizes, all handmade in Italy. Whenever financially possible, I love to invest in good quality pieces made within Europe.

When I first saw this hooded frock, made from an original 1940s pattern, I immediately knew I had to have it! I decided to experiment with the colours a bit so instead of going for a combo of forest green and red, which I’m generally very attracted to, we went with a minty green wool-viscose fabric and silk copper lining. I love the button details on the bodice and the pockets – I feel like pretty much every dress should have pockets. I wanted long sleeves because hey, I live in Finland. The dress so cosy and generally just the perfect fall dress. I’m so obsessed with this number that I basically want it in every colour scheme possible!

I paired the dress with my trusty Miss L Fire Havana boots, 1920s silk stockings and a Betty Grable updo. Special thanks to my dear Jirina Alanko for the beautiful pictures!
