Why hello!

Long time, no see! It’s been a very busy year for me between working, writing and dying my hair various shades of pastel so I’ve had little time left for blogging. However, I’ve really missed it so I’ve decided to liven things up around here again, starting with a good ol’ outfit post.

I’m a long time fan of Italian dressmaker Debora of The Black Pinafore – apparently I was her first ever Etsy customer back in 2010! Debora does good quality vintage reproduction pieces in custom sizes, all handmade in Italy. Whenever financially possible, I love to invest in good quality pieces made within Europe.

When I first saw this hooded frock, made from an original 1940s pattern, I immediately knew I had to have it! I decided to experiment with the colours a bit so instead of going for a combo of forest green and red, which I’m generally very attracted to, we went with a minty green wool-viscose fabric and silk copper lining. I love the button details on the bodice and the pockets – I feel like pretty much every dress should have pockets. I wanted long sleeves because hey, I live in Finland. The dress so cosy and generally just the perfect fall dress. I’m so obsessed with this number that I basically want it in every colour scheme possible!

I paired the dress with my trusty Miss L Fire Havana boots, 1920s silk stockings and a Betty Grable updo. Special thanks to my dear Jirina Alanko for the beautiful pictures!
